The University’s Integrated Risk Management Framework establishes the formal foundation for managing risks at NU. It outlines our customized, inclusive, and dynamic approach to Risk Management, covering core principles, the iterative Risk Management Process, and the Three Lines of Defence model to ensure clear roles and accountabilities.

 

 

 

Our framework is structured around a central, strategic process, supported continuously by vital communication and monitoring channels.

At the heart of the framework lies a structured, sequential path designed to turn uncertainty into informed decision-making.

The Pillars of Continuous Engagement
Crucially, our core process does not operate in a vacuum. It is supported by continuous activities that flank every stage of the cycle:

  • Communication & Consultation: We recognize that effective risk management is inherently collaborative. By continuously engaging with stakeholders, faculty, and staff across the University, we ensure diverse perspectives are captured, silos are broken down, and there is a shared understanding of risk at all levels.

  • Monitoring & Review: The higher education landscape is constantly evolving. Ongoing monitoring guarantees that our risk assessments remain accurate over time, that our treatment plans are actually working, and that we can swiftly adapt to new, emerging risks.

Ultimately, Nazarbayev University’s Integrated Risk Management Framework is designed to build resilience. Through this continuous, well-communicated, and heavily monitored cycle, we protect our institutional integrity and ensure the sustained success of our community.
