NU is currently implementing two institutional development initiatives with the support of experts of the Bologna Hub Peer Support Project in:

  1. The development of the University’s Diploma Supplement; and
  2. The use of ECTS for student-centred teaching and learning.

Coordinated by DAAD, the Project aims to provide peer-based support to HEIs in the European Higher Education Area in the implementation of key commitments of the Bologna Process.

NU’s participation in the Project coincided with the establishment of a special Task Force to develop the University’s first Diploma Supplement.

“The guidance and recommendations which we received from Experts Prof. Robert Wagenaar and Dr. Irma Grdzelidze in the process of the development of NU’s Diploma Supplement were extremely valuable”, said Darina Kussainova, Senior Manager of the Office of the Registrar and a member of the Diploma Supplement Task Force, sharing her impressions regarding participation in the project.

Within a short period, the Task Force managed to develop and issue the first Diploma Supplement to the graduating cohort 2022 of the Civil and Environmental Engineering programme, led by Professor Dimitris Emiris of the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences.

The Institutional Effectiveness Team under the leadership of Head of Institutional Research and Analytics Dr. Felly Chiteng Kot is currently involved in another institutional study that aims at exploring the ECTS credit allocation of courses offered at NU to ensure that the estimated student workload is achievable, realistic and adequate.

We will be sharing the major milestones and developments of this project with the NU community, so stay tuned.
