Institutional Research and Analytics, Strategy and Delivery Office is now announcing the release of the 2025 Applicant Socio-Economic Survey. This is an annual study that examines the backgrounds of candidates applying to the Foundation Year Program (NUFYP) and those seeking Direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

The survey, administered each year since 2019, serves as a key instrument for understanding the socio-economic profile of NU’s applicant pool. By collecting detailed data from candidates, the university aims to evaluate how well it attracts students from diverse socio-economic strata across Kazakhstan.

According to NU, the findings play a critical role in two strategic areas:

  • Assessing Access and Inclusion –  The data allows the University to monitor whether applicants represent a wide spectrum of socio-economic backgrounds, helping NU identify potential barriers to access for underrepresented groups.
  • Supporting Diversity Efforts – Insights from the survey help ensure that the NU student body remains diverse, inclusive, and reflective of the wider population.

University officials emphasize that the survey has become an integral part of NU’s broader commitment to equity in higher education. Over the past six years, the collected data have informed policy decisions, outreach initiatives, and support programmes aimed at expanding educational opportunities.

The 2025 results, now publicly available, are expected to provide valuable context for stakeholders, including educators, policymakers, and prospective students, as NU continues to strengthen its mission of broadening access to world-class education.
